Pelvic and/or obstetric ultrasound student sonographer lecture series

Especially designed with the sonography student in mind, we have a series of 6 pelvic lectures covering all aspects of pelvic ultrasound and 12 obstetric lectures ranging from the dating scan up to late pregnancy. Sonography students learning pelvic and/or obstetric ultrasound or allied health professionals wanting to learn about the role of ultrasound in obstetrics and gynaecology are encouraged to register!

Tutorials can be delivered one on one via teams or provided to you to watch at your convenience. 

Pelvic topics include:

• Basic understanding of pelvic ultrasound
• Anatomy and physiology of the gynaecological organs
• Ultrasound scanning for endometriosis
• Uterine pathology
• Ovarian and adnexal pathology
• IOTA - classifying ovarian lesions

Obstetric topics include:

• Embryology and introduction to first trimester obstetrics
• Ectopic pregnancy
• Twin pregnancy and assessment of twins in the first trimester
• The nuchal translucency scan
• Foetal brain and spine morphology scan anatomy and pathology
• Abnormalities seen at the morphology scan (including normal anatomy)
• Other pathology seen at the morphology scan
• Foetal heart
• Maternal disease processes and their effect on pregnancy
• Ultrasound of the placenta and cervix
• Introduction to 3rd trimester scans
• Foetal growth restriction
